Passengers to join in LJLA’s 75th Anniversary Celebrations

Following the success of Sunday’s aviation day to celebrate Liverpool John Lennon Airport’s forthcoming 75th anniversary, staff at the Airport will be inviting passengers using the Airport tomorrow to join in their celebrations on what is 75 years to the day that the Airport was officially opened on 1st July 1933.

To mark the occasion, at 9:00 am staff will be giving away birthday cake to passengers travelling through the terminal building in recognition that it was at this time 75 years ago that the first flight departed from what was then Liverpool’s new Airport. Ryanair have also kindly donated 20 free flights to give away to passengers too.

In addition, any passengers departing from the Airport tomorrow who are 75 years old this year, will be entitled to a complimentary drink from the Day Tripper bar in the departure lounge to join with the Airport and celebrate this occasion.

There is no doubt that it has been the recent past that has seen Liverpool grow to be one of the North of England’s busier airport’s giving passengers in the North West a greater choice of affordable services with the success of the various low cost services. However, this airport has a tremendous history associated with it too and one that the whole of the region can be rightly proud of.”
