Last night, an exclusive launch of Liverpool John Lennon Airport’s ‘Collection 08′ took place, with a number of special guests in attendance.

Invited guests were taken on a guided tour of LJLA’s ‘Collection 08′ and they saw for themselves the unique collection of photography, art and other exhibits which are on display in and around the Airport terminal. During the tour, new additions to LJLA’s collection were unveiled.

Special guests included Paul Saltzman, who launched his super-sized photographs of the Beatles in India in a ‘switch on’ style event with the images showcased in seven giant light boxes in the Airport departure lounge. Paul was also joined by Tom Murphy, sculpture of the famous John Lennon statue, Harry Goodwin whose two photographic exhibitions are on display and Brian Fisher owner of two of John Lennon’s suits which are now on display and were officially unveiled at the same time.

Neil Pakey, Managing Director at LJLA, said: “As one of the key gateways to the North West we want to demonstrate just what LJLA has to offer visitors in the run up to next year’s Capital of Culture celebrations and launching LJLA’s ‘Collection 08′ was the way to do it. Over the year’s LJLA has worked with a number of different artists and I’m delighted with the array of photographs and exhibits which are showcased in and around the Airport.

We are keen to make LJLA more than just an airport and more of a visitor experience. We look forward to getting the local community involved as well as some performing arts.”
