easyJet have today announced that they will be adding a further new route to their Liverpool operations with a new 6 times weekly service to the Isle of Man to start in Spring.
This is the UK’s largest airline’s fourth new route to be announced from Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) this year following on from previous announcements last month by easyJet to start services to Rhodes, Bodrum and Malta.
Flights to the Isle of Man from Liverpool have always been popular and this latest addition will give business passengers needing to commute to the island and leisure travellers looking to take advantage of the island’s many attractions, a choice of services. With almost 70,000 annual passengers forecast to use the new service, LJLA expects to see it return to being the leading gateway Airport to and from the Isle of Man.
Passengers who live on the island will also have the added convenience of being able to fly with easyJet from the Isle of Man to Liverpool and then to travel onwards to some of the other 26 destinations available with the airline from LJLA.
Robin Tudor, Head of PR for Peel Airports commented, "This new route will give the region’s passengers more choice to travel to the Isle of Man. There are very few flights to Europe direct from the island and with easyJet’s mix of many business and leisure destinations from Liverpool, we are confident the convenience for Isle of Man residents of using nearby Liverpool for onward travel with easyJet, will see this route prove to be very popular."
Trevor Spinks, easyJet’s Commercial Manager added, "We are delighted to be expanding our network to the Isle of Man, as the UK’s largest airline, it is a logical step to extend our services from Liverpool and connect the island with the North West where there are such strong business and family links.
This is the fourth new route to be introduced to our base at Liverpool John Lennon Airport in 2010 and reflects our commitment to the North West. The addition of these new routes means easyJet expects to carry 2.4 million passengers in the coming year."
The six times weekly service will operate every day except Tuesdays throughout the Summer and will operate four times weekly during the Winter. However, there will be flights on Tuesdays between 25 May – 8 June, to meet the extra demand during the busy travel period around the Isle of Man TT.
Seats are on sale at easyJet.com, with fares from just £22.99 one way (£49.98 return inc. taxes).
