easyJet has today announced a further new service to start operating from Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) with flights to Gibraltar due to commence next Spring.

This will be the first time that flights from LJLA will have operated to Gibraltar with the low-fares airline due to operate a three-times-weekly service commencing on 29th March 2011, with fares starting from just £27.99 (one-way, including taxes).

Gibraltar has a diverse range of attractions on offer. Steeped in a history that has evolved from its strategic location at the southernmost tip of the Iberian Peninsula, where Europe meets Africa, visitors are assured of breathtaking scenery, wildlife and architecture that captures the unique flavour of this Mediterranean City and its inhabitants. As a VAT free jurisdiction, Gibraltar’s popularity with visitors is enhanced by its value added shopping experience too.

Robin Tudor, Head of PR for Peel Airports commented, "This will be the first time scheduled flights will be available to Gibraltar for the region’s passengers direct from Liverpool John Lennon Airport and we expect this unique destination to be yet another easyJet success.

At a time when many airlines are consolidating their business across the UK, it is great to see easyJet continuing to develop services from here."

Ali Gayward, UK commercial manager at easyJet added, "Famed for its fantastic 426m high rock and steeped in history, Gibraltar offers a great mix of Spanish and British cultures with the benefit of the Mediterranean climate!
"We’re delighted to be providing travellers from the region with direct and affordable access to this unique holiday spot."

easyJet now flies to 33 destinations from Liverpool John Lennon Airport including recently announced new routes to Brussels, Salzburg and Tallinn.
