With the first Bank Holiday period of the year just a week away, this weekend sees the start of the great Easter holiday getaway, with Liverpool John Lennon Airport (JLA) forecasting a possible 20% increase in passenger throughput over the holiday period compared to recent weeks, bringing JLA its busiest period of the year so far.
Over 200,000 passengers are expected to pass through the Airport during the Easter School holiday period as passengers take the opportunity to fly between Liverpool and a host of destinations across Europe and beyond. Popular routes are expected to be the wide choice of Mediterranean resorts and city break destinations available from Liverpool, served by Ryanair, easyJet, Wizz Air and Flybe.
The airport’s on site car parks are expecting an influx of vehicles, the many catering companies in the terminal are making sure their food and beverage stocks are topped up – especially their children’s meals and the new World Duty Free shop has brought in additional supplies of popular perfumes, cosmetics, spirits and chocolates.
As ever, Airport Management are keen to get the message across to anyone departing from the Airport in the coming days, to allow plenty of time to pass through the terminal, as it is expected to be busy at peak times.
Robin Tudor, Head of PR for Peel Airports commented, "This is the first busy period of the year for the airport and we all look forward to welcoming passengers ahead of their flights. Preparations for the additional throughput have been underway for some time to make sure that passengers continue to have a great experience here, even when we are busier than usual."
