It may only be March and the first shoots of Spring are in the air, but with just under 300 days to go, Santa’s helpers are already making plans for Christmas 2012. Seats have now gone on sale for a flight to Lapland operating from Liverpool John Lennon Airport (JLA) in December.

The ‘Winter Wonderland’ trip gives families the opportunity to fly out from JLA in search of Santa, just before Christmas on Saturday 22nd December. Flights depart early in the morning to Enontekiö Airport in Northern Finland.

On arrival passengers are issued with thermal suits to protect them from temperatures that can dip to -35ºC before choosing from the many all-inclusive activities including, a snowmobile trip, Husky Sled Journey, Reindeer sleigh ride, tobogganing, snowballing and snowman-making.

The highlight of the day however is the journey into the snow-clad surroundings in the hope of finding the hidden log cabin where Santa sometimes stays at this time of the year. After a magical journey through the silent forest, each family enjoys a private visit with Santa, who talks with each child about their Christmas wishes.

The day trip costs £474 per adult and £424 per child, however, for those booking before the end of March, free child places are available with three full paying passengers.

Robin Tudor, Head of PR for Peel Airports commented, "We’re delighted that families in the region have the opportunity to fly out from here on these magical trips to see Santa in his homeland. Whilst we’re still much closer to last Christmas than the next one, plans need to be put into place very early to make sure we can have these extra special flights operating from Liverpool once more."

Flights are operated by specialist Santa flights operator Transun who have been running trips to Lapland to see Santa for over 20 years from airports across the UK. For more details go to www.santatrips.com or call 0845 092 0363.
