Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) is delighted to announce the appointment of Mark Povall as its new Director of Air Service Development.

Mark will be responsible for driving the development of airline passenger traffic and capacity at Liverpool John Lennon Airport both through the addition of new airlines and with existing carriers.

Mark brings seventeen years of experience working in the airport industry, and during this time has had a major focus on air service development. He is already familiar with Liverpool John Lennon Airport, having previously worked at LJLA for seven years from 1999 as part of the Commercial team that helped to make the Airport one of the fastest growing in the UK at the time.

He joins LJLA having most recently worked for Abu Dhabi Airports Company, looking after the Airline Marketing Team, where he spent the past five years successfully raising the profile of Abu Dhabi within the airline industry.
Prior to this, Mark was employed in an Airline Business Development function at Brussels Airport responsible for developing both new and existing airline business, with a specific focus on introducing low cost carriers to the airport, and developing a growing number of destinations in the North America market.

Matthew Thomas, CEO Liverpool John Lennon Airport commented, “I am delighted that Mark is returning to Liverpool, joining the Executive Management Team here at the Airport at an exciting time for the business as we look to grow our destinations and airline customers.

Mark’s wealth of aviation experience and his contacts within the airline industry, linked to his understanding of the Airport and the markets we serve, mean he is a great addition to the team and able to hit the ground running when it comes to developing new and additional airline business.”

Mark added, “This is a great opportunity for me and I’m delighted to be working for the airport once again. I have kept track of the Airport’s progress in recent years and firmly believe that I can help the airport to continue to grow and realise its tremendous potential.

In terms of the passenger experience and airline operational benefits, LJLA is certainly ahead of the game compared to many of its competitors. My job will be to demonstrate this and the strength of the market in the Liverpool City Region to airlines across Europe and beyond, ensuring they take advantage of the fantastic opportunities available here.”
