This weekend sees the start of Liverpool John Lennon Airport’s (JLA) busiest time of the year as many of the region’s schools break up and thousands of passengers jet off abroad for their main holiday of the year, taking advantage of the great choice of destinations available from their local airport.

Around 20-25,000 passengers are expected to depart from the airport this weekend alone with the vast majority heading to the sunshine resorts on the Mediterranean.

Despite the recent hot weather here in the UK, the Airport has been busier in recent weeks with passengers departing on their annual summer holiday abroad with low cost airlines easyJet and Ryanair flying passengers to a host of popular holiday destinations

With schools in Scotland having already closed for their summer holidays some weeks ago, staff at JLA have also noticed families from Scotland travelling to fly from the Airport. The combination of low cost flights from Liverpool and on-site car park prices amongst the lowest in the UK, appears to be making longer distance journeys to

Liverpool cost effective for some families, compared to using other airports closer to home.
With school holidays about to start locally though, the airport expects between 600-700,000 passengers to pass through over the busy six week summer holiday period.

Robin Tudor, Head of PR at JLA commented, “The summer sunshine resorts around the Mediterranean are once again proving to be the most popular with the region’s holidaymakers who are choosing to take advantage of JLA’s convenient, hassle free environment and the many great value for money direct flights from here.”
