Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) is preparing for its busiest weekend of the year once again with the August Bank Holiday expected to bring over 60,000 travellers passing through the Airport.
Over 30,000 passengers are expected to depart from the Airport this weekend alone starting today, with the vast majority heading to the sunshine resorts on the Mediterranean.
Despite the UK having experienced one of its better summers for weather this year, many of the region’s holidaymakers have continued to choose to fly from LJLA for their annual summer holiday abroad. This weekend, the vast majority will be heading to the sunshine resorts on the Mediterranean, once again taking advantage of the Airport’s convenient, hassle free environment and the many great value for money direct flights, with low cost airlines easyJet and Ryanair jetting passengers off to a host of popular holiday destinations.
Flights will also be operating to a number of European city break destinations too including Barcelona, Madrid, Paris, Dublin, Amsterdam and Copenhagen, whilst those looking to fly to destinations closer to home, can now reach Newquay by air for the Bank Holiday weekend too.
The Airport also expects lots of visitors to the region arriving via LJLA too, with Liverpool living up to its reputation as a leading music city as it plays host to diverse global acts as part of the brand new Liverpool International Music Festival that reaches its peak this Bank Holiday weekend.
Robin Tudor, Head of PR for Liverpool John Lennon Airport, commented: “Once again this looks like another busy weekend here at the Airport as many passengers from across the region take advantage of the Bank Holiday weekend at the end of the peak summer holiday season, to jet off in search of some sunshine.
As usual though, we also expect to see lots of visitors arriving on Merseyside via the airport too, as they fly over for the new Liverpool International Music festival.”
