Senior Management from Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) along with colleagues from owners The Vantage Airport Group are heading off later this week to meet with airlines from across the globe at the 19th World Route Development Forum, being held in Las Vegas.

The event, taking place from 5th – 8th October, is an annual global gathering of the world’s top airlines and airports, and is seen as the meeting place for the world’s airport/airline route development industry. Airports have the opportunity to meet with airlines for 20 minutes, ‘speed dating’ style before moving on to the next meeting and is viewed as one of the most cost effective ways to build relationships with airlines from all over the world and to promote the Airport and the City Region to the aviation industry.

CEO, Matt Thomas and new Director of Air Service Development Mark Povall will be attending from LJLA, meeting with a number of key airline decision makers as the Airport looks to develop its business further.

High on the agenda will be the Airport’s impressive operational track record which has seen Liverpool become one of the UK’s best performing airports in terms of ‘on-time departures’ – a vital operational criterion for today’s time sensitive airline industry.

Fifteen dedicated meetings have already been pre-planned and with 3,000 industry delegates expected to attend, further meetings will be arranged to ensure all the key growth options are explored.

Mark Povall commented, “This event can be best described as ‘speed dating’ for airports and airlines and is a fantastic opportunity to meet the key decision makers in the industry and the chance to promote the benefits of operating into Liverpool John Lennon Airport to a host of airlines from across the world.

It’s also an excellent platform to let airlines know about all of the developments taking place in the Liverpool City Region, including next year’s International Festival for Business which will bring visitors to the region from across the world.”
