Passengers arriving at Cyprus Larnaka International Airport on easyJet’s inaugural flight from Liverpool John Lennon Airport (JLA) last weekend, were met with a typical Cypriot welcome.

Hermes Airports organised a hospitality event for the passengers of the flight in collaboration with the Cyprus Tourism Organisation. Passengers were given a warm welcome to the sounds of traditional Cypriot music and the chance to taste traditional sweets and koumandaria, an amber-coloured sweet dessert wine native to Cyprus.

The new, twice weekly flights to Larnaka now operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays throughout the Winter and is the first time that LJLA has a scheduled service to the island of Cyprus.

Like Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Larnaka is also part of Vantage Airport Group’s global network of airports and the first within the group to be linked with Liverpool.

Commenting on the new easyJet route, the Chief Executive Officer of Hermes Airports who manage Larnaka Airport, Mr. Wes Porter said: “We welcome the new easyJet route to Cyprus. We are very happy with the airline’s decision to link Cyprus directly through Larnaka with Liverpool. The important connections created through these two great destinations were helped by the well-established global airport operator, Vantage Airports Group, who owns Liverpool John Lennon Airport and is a Hermes Shareholder. We are confident that the traveling public will embrace this route and take advantage of easyJet’s amazing deals”.
