Staff at Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) are once again gearing up for a busy Easter Bank Holiday weekend as travelers look set to get away for a few days to somewhere warmer across Europe.

The Airport predicts that the top five most popular sunshine routes this Easter are likely to be Barcelona, Alicante, Malaga, Faro and Palma Majorca as passengers take advantage of the first Bank Holiday weekend of the year and travel to the Mediterranean in search of warmer weather. Over 26,000 passengers are expected to head off from the Airport between Good Friday and Easter Monday – an increase of almost 30% compared to previous weekends in April.

Whilst there are still a few seats available to the most popular destinations, there are also likely to be some last minute bargains to destinations closer to home including Belfast, The Isle of Man, Dublin and other Irish destinations.

Robin Tudor, Head of PR for Liverpool John Lennon Airport commented, “Flights from Liverpool over this year’s Easter weekend are already looking very busy. With Easter falling in late April, this is the first chance for many to getaway for a long weekend in the sun and they appear to be taking advantage of the convenience and great range of destinations available direct from Liverpool.

Having had cool Spring weather so far this year, it’s no surprise to see that the Mediterranean is proving popular for the region’s travellers once again.”
