Wizz Air doubles capacity at LJLA and adds a new route to Riga

Wizz Air, the largest low fare – low cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe has announced a new service that will link Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) to Riga, the capital city of Latvia from next spring. In addition, the airline is adding further weekly flights to its existing destinations of Gdansk and Warsaw.

The new flights between Liverpool and Riga will operate twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays, commencing on 24th April 2015, with fares starting from £29.99 one way (incl. taxes, charges and a small cabin bag).

Having commenced operations from LJLA in late 2004 and with flights currently operating to Warsaw and Gdansk in Poland, this new destination becomes Wizz Air’s third route served from Liverpool.

Wizz Air has also increased its capacity to the existing routes from LJLA as it adds a third weekly service to the Polish capital of Warsaw commencing 29th March 2015. In addition, its existing service to Gdansk, will now be operated three times a week on a year round basis.

With a rich cultural and historical heritage, Riga is already proving popular as a value for money, city break destination for travellers who are on the lookout for new locations to explore. Like Liverpool in 2008, Riga currently holds the title of European Capital of Culture, and with timings of flights from and to Liverpool, the new service is ideal for passengers looking to get away for a weekend break.
