Geneva

Switzerland is renowned as an idyllic winter sports destination, as not only is it incredibly picturesque, but there are also countless skiing and snowboarding resorts. Less than a two hour flight from Liverpool, Geneva is a French speaking city with ample history, scenery and sight-seeing for all the family to enjoy. Furthermore, approximately 2 hours’ drive away is the unmissable Adelboden region, famous for its ski trails. If you are a fan of skiing but also want to visit sites such as the CERN, the Old Town and the Jet d’Eau, flying to Geneva from Liverpool is the ideal winter getaway.

Krakow

Similarly to Geneva, Krakow is a beautiful city buzzing with history and culture, and is only a two hour drive away from a stunning ski resort in Wisla. Poland is known for being cold in the winter, but with clear skies it is the perfect skiing and snowboarding weather. If you fly into Krakow and travel straight to Wisla, your family can enjoy a few days skiing and snowboarding, followed by a couple of days sightseeing in Krakow itself before you fly home. With just over 2 hours’ flying time, Krakow is close enough to visit for three days or up to two weeks.

Salzburg

Austria as a whole is renowned for being an incredibly cultural and beautiful country, but Salzburg itself is particularly special. The city itself boasts sights such as Mozart’s birthplace and the medieval Hohensalzburg Fortress, the largest fortress in Europe. However, skiing continues to be Salzburg’s most popular means of tourism, with countless winter sports resorts available and scenery you won’t want to miss – so don’t forget your camera! With all ski resorts easily accessible from Salzburg airport via public transport or car and the flight from Liverpool only taking two hours, it is the perfect location for a long weekend of winter sports.
