It’s been a fantastic year at Liverpool John Lennon Airport so as 2015 winds down, it’s the perfect time to reflect on what we’ve achieved over the past twelve months.
With passenger numbers growing by a whopping 19% we saw over 313,000 travelling through the airport in November alone. Over the course of the year, numbers are up 7% over 2014 and we’d already surpassed the total number of 2014 passengers before the year was out.
Passengers have been attracted to the airport this year by our increased route frequency taking holidaymakers and business travellers to 8 new destinations including the USA and Canada as well as destinations closer to home such as Edinburgh – now only 75 minutes away. Our increased flight frequency has also been bolstered by 5 new airlines working with us including Thomson flying to Palma, Vueling flying to Barcelona, and Aer Lingus flying to Dublin and on to North America.
Thanks to our success, we’ve been able to invest in new facilities for the airport, most recently a new toilet suite costing £300,000. The contemporary loos have a fun, cool design that our passengers love and we really think they could be the top toilets in Merseyside! Santa Claus himself even made time in his busy festive schedule to perform an opening ceremony.
So, with a great year almost over, we can only celebrate our success and look forward to an even better 2016.
All that’s left to do is wish all of our passengers, staff and partners a happy and successful new year!
