Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) recorded a 10th successive month of growth during November with a significant increase of over 19% compared to the same period last year.

Over 313,000 passengers travelled through LJLA this November compared with 262,000 in 2014, with passenger numbers at their highest November level since 2010. For the year to date, passenger totals are up over 7% compared to 2014, with more passengers having travelled through Liverpool so far this year, than during the whole of 2014.

This latest passenger growth was helped by new capacity offered by Aer Lingus with their new service to Dublin and onward connections to North America, Flybe’s new services to Amsterdam and most recently Edinburgh, as well as increases from the Airport’s two largest operators, easyJet and Ryanair.

Passenger loads on many existing popular services also improved during November as more and more passengers took advantage of the Airport’s faster, easier, friendlier approach to air travel.

Liverpool John Lennon Airport now has six scheduled carriers operating throughout the Winter period, with easyJet, Ryanair, Flybe, Wizz Air, Blue Air and Aer Lingus operating services to over 60 scheduled destinations.

During 2016 further new services will begin, with Vueling starting flights to Barcelona, Thomson Airways to Palma and Czech Airlines will return to operate its popular Prague route.

Andrew Cornish, CEO of Liverpool John Lennon Airport commented, “Passenger trends seen throughout this year continued again last month. By the end of November more passengers travelled through Liverpool so far this year, than during the whole of 2014. With a month’s worth of passenger throughput still to be counted, we expect to see passenger throughput for 2015 to be back to levels last seen in 2012.”
