Valentine’s Day and the start of school half term holidays, helped to make last weekend the busiest of the year so far at Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) with over 38,000 passengers passing through – an increase of 16% compared to last year with over 5,000 more passengers travelling through.
Increased passenger numbers last weekend follows the growth in throughput seen at the Airport for the past 12 months. In January, 20% more passengers chose to fly through LJLA compared to the first month of 2015.
Short breaks to a number of major European cities appeared to be the most popular, including Amsterdam, Dublin, Barcelona and Paris, whilst many families also headed for the slopes across Europe and some Winter skiing on flights to Geneva, Grenoble and Salzburg.
To help put passengers in the mood for romance, the Airport hosted a mini Valentine’s party in the Departure Lounge on Friday, with live music from a DJ, a fun photo booth and special offers available at a number of shops and restaurants.
