Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) will see another first today with the start of Ryanair’s new twice weekly service to the Bulgarian capital city of Sofia - the first direct scheduled flights linking the two cities.

The first passengers to take advantage of this new service are set to depart at 6:55pm this evening on Ryanair’s latest new route from Liverpool which operates on Fridays and Mondays throughout the year.

Sofia becomes the latest European capital city to be served from Liverpool with the Airport now linked with direct flights to 15 capital cities across Europe.

Mark Povall, Director of Air Service Development for Liverpool John Lennon Airport commented, "This is a great addition to the list of destinations now served from Liverpool, further improving connectivity for the City Region, and enhancing our links to the Capitals of Europe.

Ryanair have just announced further significant expansion of their business here at Liverpool and we look forward to repeating these celebrations as more new services commence over the coming months.”
