Busy weekend ahead as passengers jet off in search of Easter sunshine from LJLA

Staff at Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) are gearing up for a busy first Bank Holiday weekend of the year with thousands of travellers from across the region jetting off for Easter from Liverpool to somewhere warmer.

Around 63,000 passengers are expected to pass through the Airport between Good Friday and Easter Monday, some 7% higher than Easter 2016 with an extra 5,000 passengers taking advantage of a range of new services and additional flights to popular destinations compared to last year.

The Airport predicts that the top five most popular sunshine routes this Easter are likely to be Barcelona, Malaga, Alicante, Faro and Palma as passengers take advantage of the first Bank Holiday weekend of the year and travel to the Mediterranean in search of warmer weather.

One destination in particular that is likely to prove popular at Easter is Rome, which is available from Liverpool for the first time in many years, following the start of Blue Air’s new base at LJLA at the end of March. Travellers can now take advantage of Blue Air’s new daily service to Rome, where the annual Easter celebrations take place throughout the holiday weekend period.
