Blue Islands today launched its inaugural Guernsey flight from Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA), establishing a new twice-weekly connection to the island from the North West’s Faster, Easier, Friendlier Airport.

To mark the occasion of the first flight, staff at Liverpool John Lennon Airport celebrated the arrival of the Blue Islands aircraft with a traditional water-cannon ‘aircraft baptism’ and arriving passengers from Guernsey were greeted by representatives from Marketing Liverpool.

Paul Winfield, Director of Aviation Development for LJLA commented, “We’re delighted to welcome Blue Islands to Liverpool for the first time today as they become the latest operator to join the growing list of airlines operating from Liverpool.

Guernsey is another fantastic destination to be served from here, giving the region’s travellers the opportunity to travel to this beautiful Channel Island direct from Liverpool, the North West’s Faster Easier Friendlier airport.”

Rob Veron, CEO Blue Islands added, “Islanders can now enjoy direct connections to the cultural city of Liverpool, as well as the Lake District and North Wales and a lower cost alternative to Aurigny’s Manchester service. What’s more, the new route will also be a boost for inbound tourism to Guernsey.”

Blue Islands is a Flybe franchise partner and flights can be booked now at flybe.com
