Securitate |الأمان |bezpieczeństwo

Here at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, we take your safety and security seriously.

That’s why we’re supporting Counter Terrorism Policing’s campaign to encourage everyone to look out for each other this winter.

To help keep you safe, we have security measures you can see, and of course, ones you can’t.

We ask you to help by staying alert and trusting your instincts.

While you’re with us, you will see many of our operation teams out and about keeping you safe. These include our cleaning teams, handling agents, management, retail colleagues and of course our security teams and airport police teams across site, who are there to help you if you need it.

If something doesn’t feel right, tell them straight away and they will do the rest. Don’t assume someone else will do it.

In an emergency, call 999.

Let’s keep each other safe.

How to Fly Through Security at Liverpool John Lennon Airport

To help your journey through security go as smoothly as possible:

  • Remove coats, hats, scarves, belts and heeled shoes or boots before you reach the front of the security queue.
  • Pre-prepare your liquids in 100ml containers and keep them separate from your hand luggage, in a clear resealable 20x20cm bag. Plastic bags are available to buy from vending machines at Security, 2 bags for £1.

Liquids, Medicines, Powders, Baby Food and Milk

Food and powders should be packed into hold luggage where possible. Carriage in hand luggage can delay your transport through security as they can cause X-Ray image obstructions and cause further checking and procedures. If you are required to have powders or foods in your hand luggage, please allow additional time to travel through security.

There are restrictions on the amount of liquids you can take in your hand luggage through security. If possible, liquids should be placed in your hold baggage.

Passengers may carry small quantities of liquids within separate containers, each of which should not exceed 100ml in capacity. These containers must be placed within a single, transparent, resealable plastic bag measuring approximately 20cm by 20cm. Passengers may carry a combined quantity of liquid up to 1 litre within the liquid bag.

Only ONE transparent bag of liquids is permitted per passenger. It must be presented separately at security.

Please note that liquid bags must be re-sealable, not just closable, therefore bags that close with a zip are not permitted as the bag is not completely sealed and air-tight.

The term "Liquids" also includes gels, aerosols such as deodorant, powders, pastes such as toothpaste, canned goods in sauces (beans, tuna in brine, etc), perfume, foundation, mascara and make-up, e-cigarette cartridges and lighters (only one permitted per person).

Random liquid testing

Liquid products may be subjected to random testing in line with Department for Transport regulations. If the liquid product fails the test, it won’t be allowed past Security, and it’ll have to be disposed of.

Please note

UK airports have been requested by the Department for Transport to prohibit carriage of ‘Spice Bomb’ fragrance made by Viktor and Rolf and the ‘Wanted’ fragrance made by Azzaro.

This prohibition is in place regardless of whether the size of the bottle means that it would otherwise be allowed if carried in a compliant one litre plastic bag.

Medicines

Essential medicines may be permitted in large quantities above the 100ml limit, but will be subject to authentication. All medicines should carry the prescription label clearly showing the name of the passenger.

Baby Food and Milk

When travelling with a baby, you're allowed to take enough baby food and/or baby milk for the journey, even if that is over the 100ml limit. These may be opened for testing at security.
