Travelling from the North / North-East / East
Travel on the M6 southbound to junction 21A with M62. Please note that junction 21A is a split junction, and motorists should ensure they come off at the slip road signposted Liverpool. Follow M62 West until junction 6, and then take the roundabout's 2nd exit onto the A5300 (Knowsley Expressway). At the end of the Knowsley Expressway, turn right at the roundabout, and merge onto the A561 (Speke Boulevard). Follow the A561 until the junction with Speke Hall Avenue, and then turn left, following signs to the airport. This route is not subject to tolls.
Travelling from the South / East
Drivers can either travel up the M6, exit the motorway at junction 21A and follow directions as from the North/North-East. Tolls are not applicable via this route.
Alternatively, drivers can exit the M6 at junction 20 and merge onto the M56. Then leave at Junction 12 following signs for Liverpool Airport, travelling over the Mersey Gateway bridge. Follow the A561 until the junction with Speke Hall Avenue, and then turn left, following signs to the airport.
PLEASE NOTE: The Mersey Gateway is a tolled bridge, with no barriers but using number plate recognition and tolls must be paid on line either in advance or immediately after using this crossing. Travelling from the Wirral / North Wales
Passengers travelling from Wirral may find it more convenient at peak times to use the M53 and then the M56, leaving at junction 12 before using the Mersey gateway Bridge (as per instructions for travelling from the South/East shown above) rather than a route through the City Centre of Liverpool via the Mersey Tunnels.
Passengers travelling from North Wales should join the A55 to connect with the M56 eastbound, and then follow instructions as from the East.
